Rainforest Lab

The people at Rainforest Lab are dedicated to co-creating a community where people experience meaning and belonging; a place where people can explore their authenticity, are warmly welcomed, and can be seen and heard. At the root of this community is a group of people committed to a shared lifestyle which supports revitalizing our way of being in the world.

This intentional community we call a Transformational Learning Community (TLC), which is a full-time center cultivating personal and systemic transformation. The culture of this TLC includes:

  • Communal meals

  • Conflict Transformation training/facilitation

  • Trauma Healing

  • Collaborative Decision-Making

  • Community Building

  • Social/Political Activism

  • Clarifying and fulfilling personal vision and life-purpose

  • Giving/receiving conscious feedback

  • Nonviolent Communication

  • Permaculture

  • Yoga/meditation practices

  • Common holding of land, income, and resources

We are dedicated to empowering and cultivating a community of “cultural catalysts”; individuals who strive to create powerful and lasting positive change through activism, nonviolent communication, restorative justice, community building, and leadership. We see the immensity of this work for global transformation and seek to steward an expanding movement to build our collective capacity for large-scale systemic change.

In recognition of the vast systemic oppression and inequalities that exist in human society, we are committed to deepening our awareness towards and actively supporting the liberation of marginalized groups. We seek to create a community which is communicative and responsive to power inequalities that exist as a result of racism, classism, capitalism, patriarchy, imperialism, and colonialism and balances these dynamics through changing behaviors, worldviews, and actions to live in solidarity with those whose needs are systematically devalued. We seek to live with humility and curiosity towards the experience of other beings and realize that we unknowingly participate in the suffering of others. We trust in the knowing that comes with those who are on the receiving end of oppression in any situation and how they can direct us on the path of transformation.
