Astronomy in expansion

Thanks to the instruments it has acquired and its globalized operation, astronomy is today a science in full expansion. F. Combes explains to us the paths she is now following in the exploration of a universe where everything remains to be discovered.

Francoise Combes is an astronomer at the Paris Observatory and a member of the Academy of Sciences. A specialist in the formation and dynamics of galaxies in a cosmological context, she works to observe and simulate them on a computer in order to test various models of the Universe, and in particular to understand the nature of mysterious dark matter.
