Deemed opaque, bureaucratic and unreliable, the evaluation work of higher education led by theHceres regularly arouses criticism and mobilizations of academics. Clémentine Gozlan returns to the origins and the operation of this bureaucracy which embodies the entry of the university into the era of the New Public Management.

Clémentine Gozlan is a doctor in sociology and lecturers at the University of Versailles Saint-Quentin in Yvelines. His work focuses on the transformations of the academic world in the contemporary period, based on controversies on research assessment. She has published in particular The values of science. Survey on research reforms in France (ENS Editions, 2020), a work from his thesis. She is currently working on a project on activism in the scientific profession in France and Great Britain.
