The repression which raged under Franco explains largely the longevity of its regime. There were many protests, however, and the very varied forms of resistance.

Charlotte Vorms is a master of conferences in contemporary history at Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University, Center for Social History of Contemporary Worlds (Chs).
