How the economic crisis is felt in Japan, a country particularly affected ? What lessons can we learn from the previous release of the Japanese crisis ? A conference organized by the France-Japon Foundation will bring together French and Japanese researchers on Saturday November 14.
Surprisingly, the French analyzes of the global crisis that we are going through very rarely mention Japan, while it is one of the countries that has been the most affected in terms of growth. Above all, the Japanese trajectory since the end of the 1980s is teaching: after the breakup of financial and land bubbles in the early 1990s, Japan indeed experienced a long decade of stagnation. However, several economists, at the forefront of which Paul Krugman warns against too much optimism concerning the exit of the crisis and on the contrary underline the risk of a Japanese scenario.
