Membership Application Format and Questions
Acorn

Wow, so you're applying to live here! In order to make a better decision about whether or not we're a good fit for each other, we ask you to answer the following questions in writing. Please post your answers on the "Visitor Letters" clipboard as soon as possible after you decide to apply. This is the indication to members that you are planning to apply. Your answers will be considered along with your interview, your labor sheet/work scene, and people's general interaction with you.

Later in the process we will plan to have a face-to-face meeting between you and the group. At that time you will be invited to give a 3-5 minute summary of your reasons for wanting to live here and your concerns of a general nature. Please don't plan to read your written answers. Use the written version to organize your thoughts and share the specific details of the answers then simply give a brief overview at the face-to-face meeting. It's not a test--just a way to give everyone at the meeting the same information to start from--your summary is a way to focus the group.

Why do you want to join Acorn?

What do you see your role in the community?

What do you expect to contribute in labor both short and long term? (Be as concrete as possible.)

What is your vision for Acorn?

What are your "departure issues"--things you feel strongly enough about that you'd leave over?

Is there anything else you would like us to know about you in considering your membership?
