The contours of the law

The codification of Roman law by Justinian in VIe century, whose influence extends to the present day, has erased the importance of controversies between jurists, relating to all aspects of life in common. Dario Mantovani brings them to life using ancient manuscripts.

Dario Mantovani has held the Chair of Law, Culture and Society of Ancient Rome at the College de France since 2018. His teaching touches several areas of knowledge, in addition to Roman legal culture, notably literature, rhetoric, the historiography of Roman law, such as that the question arises of knowing how far the law extends.
