At the School of Society

In this interview, François Dubet returns to his career as a education sociologist as well as his commitment to the social debate on the school. He describes what he calls the social experience of high school students and teachers and deciphers the tensions that crystallize in the school world. If we often hear that the school is no longer the sanctuary it has been, especially in France, for François Dubet, the process of dropping out of society was not far enough.

François Dubet is a sociologist, professor at the University Victor Segalen Bordeaux 2, director of studies at theEhess (School of Advanced Studies in Social Sciences) in Paris, and researcher at CADIS (Sociological analysis and intervention center, Cnrs). He is the author of several works on social movements, the city, marginality, youth, education, work, feelings of justice and sociological theory.
